Fund Youth Court Diversion
The county spends $180,000 annually on programs to prevent crime and recidivism through a 1/4% sales tax for youth court diversion.
State Public Act 93-0892 allows the county board to enact a resolution to collect a $5 fee as part of court costs "specifically for the operation and administration of a teen court, peer court, peer jury, youth court, or other youth diversion program." This would result in an estimated $20,000 per year that the county does not collect at this point.
